Wellcare Insurance Corporation is growing and we currently have a full-time position available for a Commercial Lines Auto Underwriter. This position is suitable for a candidate with prior industry experience presently working in personal/ commercial lines with 2+ years insurance related experience. The successful candidate will contribute to the achievement of a profitable and growing portfolio of business by effectively and efficiently underwriting risks. This will be accomplished through the implementation and maintenance of operational and underwriting discipline, guidelines, and the monitoring of underwriting and service execution.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Review quote requests and applications to determine risk acceptability, policy terms and rates to process new business
  
• Review and process renewals, endorsements and cancellations
  
• Place facultative reinsurance on risks that exceed capacity
  
• Provide underwriting advice and answer inquiries from brokers
  
• Visit brokers to communicate underwriting approaches, facilitating public relations efforts and solving problems
  
• Provide exceptional customer service by answering telephone inquiries, making outgoing calls, respond to emails and/or faxes as may be required
  
• Liaise with personal lines, claims and accounting departments on mutual concerns
  
• Develop and maintain positive business partnerships with our Clients and Insurers
  
• Track and produce daily, weekly and monthly production activity reports
  
• Also do personal lines work
  
• Various other duties as required

Required Qualifications

• CIP/FCIP designation (or working towards) would be an asset
  
• Post-secondary education in a related field is required
  
• RIBO licensed or willingness to write their exam within a year of employment (preferred)
  
• Exposure to Epic would be an asset
  
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in similar role
  
• Proven knowledge of policy wordings and rating guidelines
  
• Insight into current market and industry trends
  
• Attention to details to ensure quality for each transaction
  
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written; Mandarin and Cantonese would be an asset
  
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
  
• Proficient with Microsoft Suite(Word, Excel, and Power Point)
