Gengshiji is a restaurant chain from Hunan, China. We have been engaged in the catering industry since 1994. Gengshiji officially launched the Canadian Chain Program in 2016 , our first restaurant in Richmond, British Columbia , Canada. Job Opening: 2 Job Type: Permanent Full Time Wages: 15-18 CAD/Hr. Vacation: 2 Weeks / Year Job Duties • Prepare and cook high quality cuisine and special dishes. • Prepare complete meals, individual dishes and foods. • Plan menus, determine size of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs. • Set up and oversee kitchen operations and buffets. • Managing food costs closely. • Monitoring orders and supplies. • Schedule and supervise kitchen helpers • Maintain inventory and records of food supplies and equipment. • Assist in implementing and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen and other areas. • Ensure that all event and internal needs are met and that work is completed in accordance with our standards. • Maintain a well-groomed and professional appearance for yourself and all kitchen staff. • Demonstrate an aptitude in new cooking techniques and foreign cuisines and help to develop workable, efficient recipes and ensure their effective implementation. • Interact with clients at chef’s tables and tasting and present menu descriptions in a professional manner. • Perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required from time to time. Skills and Experience • Minimum 5 years’ experience preferably working in a high-volume kitchen operation. • Great Knowledge of food preparations and quality practices. • Strong focus on service excellence and a positive attitude that contributes to team work. • Must be self-motivated and be able to motivate a team. • Ability to adapt quickly to change, and work calmly and efficiently to meet deadlines in a high-volume capacity. • Proficient written and spoken English communication skills in order to effectively interact with team members in a busy environment and for safety within the kitchen. • Ability to work a variety of shifts across 7-day opening hours, including mornings, days, evenings and weekends. • Mandarin or Cantonese Speaking is considered an asset.
