Title:   Quality Assurance Assistant (4-month contract)

Canda Six Fortune Enterprise Co. Ltd. is a leading importer and distributor of food products from the Pacific Rim and other regions of the world. We are currently looking for temporary help to assist us with a project that focuses on meeting the new regulation requirements.

Job Summary:
The Quality Assurance (QA) Assistant reports to the QA Supervisor and is responsible for the safety and quality of our imported products. This role will conduct labelling reviews and to assist the team with the QA routine with updating the item tracker and item reviews. This is a temporary position that supports the QA team on a part-time basis to meet the new regulation requirements in respect to the Safe Food for Canadians Act.

Working Hours:
•   20 hours per week, Monday – Friday (time will be determined after the interview)
•   Part-time, temporary contract (4 months)

Responsibilities:
•   Conduct item reviews
•   Complete labelling checks
•   Provide non-compliance item correction support
•   Complete net weight verification
•   Other administrative duties assigned

Requirements/ Must-Haves:
•   1-year related work experience within the food industry
•   Knowledge in CFIA regulatory and labeling regulations and Food Safety Standards and its application in food industry
•   Proven knowledge in the principles of Food Safety Standards (e.g. HACCP), and in the evaluation of Food Safety Control Programs; value experience in food labeling review that meets CFIA requirements

Assets/ Nice-to-Haves:
•   Post-secondary education or equivalent in food science
•   Be able to speak Cantonese, Mandarin, Japanese or Korean is considered an asset for foreign communication
•   Experience working with the seafood industry is an asset
•   Passion for food and love for learning new recipes (cultural – fit)
